FAQs

Is the performance compulsory?

No. You are welcome to come along & learn the choreography, and perform with us when you are ready!

What if I am absent one week?

With so many moving parts to get the Hoop Army “show ready” it’s best to attend as many classes as you can in the Term, in particular as we approach show time it becomes more important to not miss classes. If you know of any dates you will be away, let the teacher know, & there are catch-up videos you can use to learn the choreography you missed. If you are away, it is expected that you learn the choreography before you come to the next class, so everyone is up to date & moving through the course at a similar pace.

Do you do payment plans?

There is an option to pay 1/2 term up front, and 1/2 mid-way.

What do I need for class?

You just need to wear something comfortable to Hoop & dance in, sneakers encouraged & bring your good vibes!

What size hoops do the Hoop Army use?

We use hot pink 90cm medium weight PolyPro hoops. We do have some heavier 90cm hoops, and also some larger hoops 100cm, and some smaller 80 cm hoops.

What do I need for the performance?

You need to attend at the dress rehearsal (usually the last class before the performance date) for the final rehearsals, plus this is when you will try on the costume that is provided by the Hoop Army. Unfortunately you don’t get to keep the costume as they stay with the Army’s collection, but you will receive photos of yourselves in the outfits! More details are provided for you throughout the Term.

Warmer months we usually wear the Hoop Army Lycra booty shorts, so you will need:

  • BLACK SHOES (sneakers)

  • Skin Coloured Fishnets

  • Your own make up

Colder Months we wear pants & a long sleeve top. You will need:

  • BLACK SHOES & Black socks

  • T-shirt bra

  • Your own make up

I’m not sure if my level of hooping is enough to join?

Please send Hayley Hoopla a private msg on Instagram, with the tricks you can do with a hoop! If you have been hooping for a while, you most likely are ready for the Hoop Army. There will always be new tricks each term that some students havn’t mastered yet, so sometimes there is homework! But when a new trick is in the choreography, it’s the best motivation to master it.
